I had already taken the advice about taking out the printer head and cleaning it using hot water, drying the head completely, and refitting it back in the printer. Printhing without ink in the wells OVERHEATED THE PRINTHEAD NOZZLES and potentially burned them out. Guess what? After all, you can buy them on eBay or Amazon for almost nothing these days.Hope it helps!! (I promised the gods if it worked I'd post here)PatP.S.

I note that I am able to turn the printer on with the body open, and can see the ink cartridges do not move at all. TIA. Begs the question why Canon would say this, and seemingly be unaware that such a simple solution works. Turned off printer, opened it up.

It worked taking the print head out. and the price of a brand new MX882 costing only $129, I was wondering if I shouldn't simply purchase a new printer. This worked for my mg6130. Submitted: 4 years ago. Was THIS close to buying a new printer. I had tried turning off and on and removing cartridges and print head before. I cleaned and dried with warm water only, managed to get inkjets to the middle by turning the power on and opening straight away.
