Fortunately, when this printer is off the printer head can be slit sidevise freely by hand which alow esy access to the mentioned cleaner sponge tab located below the head in The 2 "sponges" on my Pixma iP4000R were next to each other-one was rectangular and one was square-like. The sponge then drops back down when finished. I removed it (hopefully I won't miss it), then cleaned gently around moving parts in the area of the printhead tray. I slid the white plate back and forth and I wasn't lucky enough to have a piece of paper on the sponges or anything. You do need to get in well and make sure to gently move some of the internal parts to clean enough.

The decision was an easy one however as Best Buy had a $100 Canon MX700 web special. I was quoated £60 for this problem to be fixed and i just slightly moved the thing that moves when you turn it on and of course it was the ink is online now I have received error code 6A00 on my IP6600D. have a peek here I was stuck with error code 6100 or whatever, same as your description of problem and thanks to your suggestion - manually moved the print head and in the corner there
It happened after I wasn't using the printer for quite some time - couple month, while cartridges were inserted. I have looked everywhere for a paper jam and can't find one.
I read the posts about accessing the print carriage parking area but I cannot get the print carriage to move from the parked position.
Anyone know what this is about? Move the white plastic assembly forward and then all the way back. We found your suggestions to move the purge unit -- the unit works fine now. Log in om je mening te geven. However I eventually moved the cartridge cover to the left and found a little piece of foam like wadding under a loose spring on the right hand side. I followed the steps you described and after 2 tries, my printer was up & working again.
This is what happens - (the orange light flashes 11 times). I have changed my magenta cartridge evn though it still had some ink in it.
