Canon Lens Error Help
All it took was an extremely gentle rotation of the lens. They fixed it or replaced it for free every time. Forcing the lens was the only way and it worked. over a week i carefully tried all of the fixes described on these sites without success.i could feel the grit in the lens extension mechanism as it tried to extend. check my blog
The culprit was the loose lens motor ribbon cable. Of course the seller nor ebay would help.I took it to my local camera shop and they sent us to this place, www.CamerasAndParts.comFrom what I have since learned, they are the I am telling everyone I know DO NOT BUY CANON CAMERAS. While I was travelling in the Middle East, the lens of my Canon PowerShot S100 got stuck and I received the message: "Lens Error, Will shut down automatically, Restart camera". Another major contributor is sand in general. Both cameras are about 7 years old so I wouldn't have tried the steps with a new one.
